Installing

Since most of the time you work with embedded devices over a local area network, it’s important to run these pages in your web browser as local files. This is necessary because some browsers, in order to increase security, restrict access to the local network for resources obtained from the internet.

For example, Chromium 115 will print this error, if you try to connect to a local device with a page fetched from the internet.

Access to fetch at 'http://192.168.0.1' from origin 'http://example.org' has been blocked by CORS policy: The request client is not a secure context and the resource is in more-private address space `private`.

Firefox 116 doesn’t seem to have this protection, but it’s always better to be able to open the file for a page locally.
